High-Profile Athlete Picks USA - Revised
"Their coaching staff is amazing," said Funderburk. "The school and the facilities were just really good to be around. It's just like a family atmosphere all around."
When asked if the location of USA near his home in Pensacola helped make his decision, Funderburk was emphatic.
"That was a big factor. I want my family to be able to support me at the games," he said.
Funderburk is a 6' 180lb playmaker who amassed over 2800 yards and 23 TDs (four by kick return) primarily playing quarterback as a junior, but he has been told that he'll play wide receiver at the next level where his speed will make him a dangerous player in the Sun Belt. He also contributed over 40 tackles and two interceptions on defense. As a sophomore he had over 1300 yards and 10 TDs.
He is rated three-stars by Rivals (84th rated WR nationally) and 247 Sports (65th rated athlete nationally).
As perhaps the most decorated player who has ever committed to USA, Funderburk plans to help all he can to lure more top athletes to Mobile. He said that the coachign staff has indicated that they would like him to become their 'Pied Piper" to lure more top players to Mobile.
