Florida DB Visiting USA
Much like last year, one of the focuses of this year's recruiting efforts by the South Alabama coaching staff will be in the secondary. One such target is defensive back Nate Godwin of Tampa's Freedom High School.
The 5'11" 185lb Godwin boasts speed in the range of a 4.5 forty and has already attracted offers from Arkansas State, Ball State, Buffalo, Ohio, Western Michigan, Western Kentucky, Iowa State, Bowling Green, MTSU, FAU and now USA. Godwin is currently planning on taking a visit to Mobile on the weekend of June 16th to see what the school has to offer.
"I'll be interested in any legitimate offer from a Division One school, said Godwin. "South Alabama seems like a good program, in the Sun Belt and everything. I want to go up there and see their campus and see what they're about."
Although Godwin is acquainted with players at several of the programs recruiting him, including the Big 12's Iowa State, he currently does not have a favorite among his list of suitors.
Godwin is know for his speed and physicality, making him a candidate for either cornerback or safety. Many schools are waiting to see his size at the end of his senior year to determine what position they project him playing on the next level.
Academically he is leaning towards engineering or communications but, like most incoming freshmen, he is currently undecided as to his major.
South Alabama will be entertaining a large number of recruits on the weekend that Godwin visits. However, it is safe to assume that he will be one of the guests that receive a lot of attention.
