Welcome former Alabama WR Danny Woodson Jr. to USA. Woodson transferred to South & will have 2yrs of eligibility left after sitting out 2013
Originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, Adamu signed with Alabama State out of high school. As a freshman he averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and .9 blocks in just 16.7 minutes per game with 16 starts for the SWAC champion. Seeking greener pastures, he transferred to Georgia Perimeter College near his home and had a solid sophomore season. As part of a talented, deep front line, Adamu contributed 9.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 57% on his field goal attempts and even showing some range by hitting 3 out of 10 three pointers.
Adamu's accomplishments have gotten him offers from South Alabama, Jacksonville, Louisiana Tech and South Florida as well as interest from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Georgia and Georgetown. With so many potential opportunities, he will probably not sign immediately in the spring, but will likely wait a while to see what all of his options turn out to be. Adamu is clear on his current favorite, though.
"South Alabama is showing the most interest right now, the most love," he said. "So they're at the top at the moment."
While providing good size inside, Adamu says that he is most effective off of the dribble and forcing defenses to extend their perimeter with his ability to shoot from the outside. This versatility will make him a valuable addition to any program he chooses.
Time will tell if that value will be part of the South Alabama program in 2012-2013.
4/17/2012 UPDATE: Adamu says that serious interest has emerged within the last week from Mississippi State, Florida State and Iona. He will be taking more visits and plans on making his final decision on May 1st.
